Gilbert House Fellowship #308: Numbers 24

A PAGAN seer 3,400 years ago prophesied not just the coming Messiah, but His ultimate victory over the Watchers and their demonic offspring, the Nephilim.

This week, we discuss Balaam’s third and fourth oracles over Israel, which includes the messianic prophecy of Numbers 24:17–19. We explain why his oracle refers to the coming of Jesus and his return at the end of the age.

  1. Sceptre: Jacob used the word when he predicted that the Sceptre would not depart from Judah until Shiloh, a name used to identify the Messiah, comes. See Genesis 49:10.
Weren’t the Sheth called the sons of tumult, who were the carriers of the Nephilim seed?

It’s not much to tell, actually. Max was the guest on a Saint Louis morning radio show hosted by the husband and wife comedy team Stevens and Grdnic, and they had my barbershop quartet on the show that day. The gag was that it was Stevens and Grdnic’s one-week anniversary filling in for the regular morning show, so they put together the best star-studded show they could put together—which was Max Baer, Jr., my quartet, and the actor who played the fat guy on the bench in the movie Forrest Gump.
